Sparks & Wiry Cries in partnership with Vital Opera will produce the premiere of Meltdown, an operatic song recital for mezzo-soprano Hai-Ting Chinn, pianist Erika Switzer, violinist Francesca Anderegg, and cellist Jules Biber. Meltdown engages the layered stories and science of climate change through the lens of a female glaciologist. Meltdown was workshopped at the Performing Garage and Bard College in June 2024 and the Baryshnikov Arts Center in November 2024. Composer Stefan Weisman, librettist David Cote, director Kelvin Chan, and visual designer Camilla Tassi complete the creative team.
